I’m one of those people that have long arms. I love wearing long sleeves, especially since I love the fall and winter seasons. I like for the sleeves to lay right on the top part of my hand. However, today, I’m trying to lengthen an old shirt where the sleeves have gotten too-short (probably from washing). I found a simple way to lengthen the sleeves. I’m so happy because this is one of my favorite long-sleeve t-shirts. It has such a comfortable feel that I refuse to throw it away. Plus, it’s uncomfortable to wear a shirt under this long-sleeve t-shirt. Check out this simple way to lengthen the sleeves.Continue Reading
How to Widen T-Shirt Neckline
One of the worst things about wearing a t-shirt is how tight the neckline feels. I usually just cut them off. I have so many t-shirts with the neck part cut off. It usually leads to the neckline stretching out too wide over time. So, today I am doing something a little different. My goal is to secure the ends of the neckline so that it doesn’t stretch so out of shape. Plus, I want it to look neater when I wear them.Continue Reading
Neat Way To Store Sewing Machine Bobbins
Lately, my sewing machine bobbins have gotten out of hand. I’ve tried to keep them neatly in my sewing basket, but they seem to unravel and end up all over the top tray of the sewing basket. So, I went out to the fabric store to look for containers to hold my bobbins neatly. I found a couple of containers at the fabric store. However, they were $8 – $10 and did not contain the design or type of space and enclosed compartments that I would’ve liked.Continue Reading
Make Your Own Tutu
I was in the mall shopping with my youngest daughter and her friends. They were looking for tutus. Of course, we didn’t find any because I’m not quite sure where they are sold. I think you can probably find them in a costume store. I guess wearing tutus over leggings is a style for them. What did I do? Made one. How cute!Continue Reading
Make Your Own Towel Wrap
Took a little time out of my day to make a towel wrap for my daughter. I made her one because she seems to stay in her towel forever after she takes a shower. Plus, towel wraps can be so cute if you make your own. You can pick the color you really like and decorate it with the ribbons of your choice. It requires some sewing but not too much.Continue Reading
Make Your Own Pencil Pouch
My oldest child needs an extra large pencil pouch for carrying her stuff to school. The amount of supplies that are needed by kids today is so outrageous. I don’t even try to purchase a small size pouch for her. Normally, I would buy a money bag for her to use as a pouch. However, this year, I decided to make one. It turned out nicely. It’s been awhile since I’ve messed with a zipper, but I made it work. Plus, I used old place mats to make the pouch….saving money anyway I can. Continue Reading
How To Repair Damaged Hooks On A Bra Strap
How many times has this happened to you? You take it out of the wash and it looks like this….damaged. I always try to remember to hook the bra strap together before I wash it. I also try to remember to put it in something like a mesh bag to keep it from being damaged. However, there are just some days that you forget to do these things and just toss it in the dirty clothes.Continue Reading
Easy Way To Turn Regular Pot Holders Into Scented Pot Holders
My favorite spice scent is nutmeg. I could smell it all day and never get tired of the scent. It has such a relaxing scent. Of course, I would look foolish smelling this spice all day. So, I decided to turn one of my old pot holders into a scented pot holder. That way, every time I take a hot pot or pan off the stove, I would be able to smell that wonderful scent. I was in no mood to make a pot holder, so I’m cheating a little and using one that’s already made. Always looking to save on time….Continue Reading
Re-Purpose Worn Bath Towels Into Smaller Hand Towels
I love, love, love towels! Some people love shoes. Some people love purses. But, I love towels. I am that type of person that hates to throw away a towel unless it’s absolutely necessary. Just because a towel gets old or worn does not mean that it has to be thrown away. Normally, I cut them up and use them as cleaning rags, especially if the edges start to ravel. However, today, I decided to use a different technique…….re-purposing the worn-tattered bath towels into smaller hand towels. The towel in the above pic is from a set that I received as a wedding gift 18 years ago. Check out the simple steps below…Continue Reading
Making A Simple Tote With No Pattern
Make a Tote with No Pattern
Love when I can throw a quick tote together. Was headed to the beach on vacation and decided to throw together a quick tote. Of course, it’s made without a pattern. Sometimes, patterns have entirely too many directions. So, throw caution to the wind and make this easy tote. Plus, I was able to re-purpose old material to make this tote. Another great way to save money.Continue Reading
